Japanese Babe is the Most Beautiful Dentist in the World?

Well, once again, my favorite real Japanese news site, Tokyo Reporter, has come through with the real information about Japan that you want to know (not like that nonsense report I just wrote about the vending machine with the naked girls in it!)

The Tokyo Reporter has found the most beautiful dentist in the world.

From Tokyo Reporter:

From town council members to fishing experts to political supporters, news reports have celebrated the rise of very attractive females in the public eye, but weekly tabloid Friday (Nov. 5) has found a dentist in Niigata who meets that description, notably because her appearance is that of a club hostess.
Miwako Kimura, 29, has received a lot of attention via social-networking site Twitter, such as being the target of such comments as, “Isn’t she really a hostess?” and “Nicely done with that spiraling hair.” In fact, she is an assistant director of the Kimura Dental Clinic in Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture.
Her profile pic on the clinic’s webiste shows her with layered hair and more emphasis than usual on the mascara around her eyes, a typical feature of a kyabajo, or bar hostess.
Yes. Very impressive. With Miwako as my dentist I'm sure I, and millions of other guys just like me,  could imagine lots of "drilling."

NHK Public TV Featuring Women's Cleavage!?

By Mike in Tokyo Rogers
My favorite online magazine about the real Japan, the Tokyo Reporter, comes through once again!

I keep harping on at this blog about how Japan's main terrestrial TV stations are in big trouble coming up here next July 24, 2011, when they make the switch over to digital broadcasting. But one other thing that has been noticeable is how public broadcasting station NHK has been making programs recently that raise eyebrows.

George William's newest NHK English show, "Moo Moo Family" (Sundays at 17:50 pm) where he plays the part of a Glam Rock star from England who never made it in the music business so now he is a milk delivery man is one fine example; George wears wild makeup and looks like Freddie Mercury or T-Rex... We've been calling George, "G-Rex."

Now, Tokyo Reporter has found a story from Asahi Geino that is much more racy than that! According to Asahi Geino, NHK is now going for viewers by talking about women's breasts and showing them how to improve their breast size and cleavage!

Cover of Asahi Geino

Astounding.

From Tokyo Reporter:

While public broadcaster NHK is regarded as a conservative channel, Shukkan Asahi Geino (Sep. 9) reports that it has been broadcasting some sexually-charged programming of late.
The August 22 airing of “Tokyo Kawaii TV,” a program dedicated to female fashion, focused (quite literally) on cleavage. The program was designed to empower women, informing them on various methods for presenting their chests when they wear bikinis. The program kicked off with interviews of girls at Shonan Beach. It probably goes without saying that the camera was primarily positioned below the neck area.

Once again, leave it to Tokyo Reporter to show you what is really going on in Japan from the point of view of the average Japanese and not from some foreigner... Tokyo Reporter is a must!

Tokyo Reporter Has Great Coverage of Yasukuni Shrine Demonstration...

Once again, daring to go where the others dare not...  My very favorite Japan bizarre and "real" news sites covers a huge demonstration at Yasukuni shrine.

This time, too, Tokyo Reporter has their own photographers there and takes great photos.

The Tokyo Reporter writes:

Right-wing groups and an anti-Yasukuni Shrine march clashed on Sunday in downtown Tokyo, a photo album from which leads off this week's update. Remember, it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you look when you play the game:

I'm sure it would have been a fun and memorable day to visit Yasukuni on the anniversary of the ending of World War II... But then again, these guys look kind of scary... I think looking at the Tokyo Reporter's photos is close enough for me! See more here.

The Tokyo Reporter - Japan's Best, er, Weirdest News...

By Mike in Tokyo Rogers

Let me introduce you to the Tokyo Reporter. Tokyo Reporter is, in my opinion, the best place to find out the weird news on Japan. Why? Because the Tokyo Reporter doesn't report on the news from some idiot foreigner's point of view. Tokyo Reporter is run by my friend, and old Japan hand, Brett Bull and Brett doesn't make silly assumptions about what the Japanese do.

Shukkan Jitsuwa (Weekly True Story)

Brett allows the Japanese to report for themselves the bizarre goings-on in Japan through some of the biggest Japanese weeklies and gossip magazines. Tokyo Reporter expertly translates the articles and you get the real thing. NOT what some fresh-off-the-boat person from Nebraska thinks about Roppongi.

Here is a taste of today's Tokyo Reporter that just cracks me up. It's about some guy who just got married who, two days after returning from his honeymoon, goes out and gets arrested for hiring an under-aged hooker:

On July 19, that was certainly the case for a 37-year-old employee at a life insurance firm from Kanagawa Prefecture. He was arrested by police from the city of Seya for violating prostitution and pornography statutes by hiring an underage prostitute. But that’s not all: The apprehension occurred two days after he returned from his honeymoon and in the “loving embrace” of his new wife.

“He’s a director of sales and has 15 people under him at the Odawara branch of AXA Life Insurance,” explains a newspaper reporter who covers the police beat in Kanagawa. “He’s suspected of paying 25,000 yen on April 7 for a romp in an Ebina City love hotel with a 17-year-old girl he met on a matchmaking site.”
The suspect was married on July 7 and departed on his honeymoon to Hawaii thereafter. The couple returned to their new home in Odawara 10 days later.

See original article here.

Yes, my friends, that is the real Japan. That's the Japan I know and love.

The Tokyo Reporter does something that no other publication does in English in Japan that I know of; they report the bizarreness from the Japanese perspective. You know if the regular Japanese person thinks that it is bizarre, then it truly is.

The Tokyo Reporter is the Drew Curtis' Fark of Japan.

As for English language perspectives in Japan, it is a refreshing one indeed. I get so sick and tired of reading these other English language publications that report on Japan and it's obvious that, from reading the articles, these writers have only a superficial knowledge of Japanese culture and the language. After all, as anyone knows, language is the key to culture and Brett from Tokyo Reporter is an excellent Japanese speaker.

I am proud to say that I am a faithful subscriber to the Tokyo Reporter. You can join the club too! Go to Tokyo Reporter web site here.... Tell them that Mike in Tokyo sent you!
